Phosphate Induced Metal Stabilization

using Apatite II

Dairy Lagoons

Solid waste in dairy ponds from contaminated dairy effluent water is fast becoming a crisis for the dairy industry because of accumulation of contaminants, such as copper ion (Cu2+), in the lagoon water, which is killing the microbial communities required to degrade the waste. Build-up of solids and the loss of freeboard can be reversed quickly using Apatite II. The efficiencies are quite large and the process is very rapid (days to weeks for solids breakup and increased freeboard). Applications at several dairies in New Mexico have shown the process to exceed all expectations.
